How This Works

A typical coaching engagement lasts for 3-6 months, although I do not require any particular commitment. Rather, I will tell you that coaching is worth the investment when you are working on big change, and big change takes both work and time.  You can expect to feel better within the first month, learn how to create change within the second month, and begin to see real results within the third month.

Generally, I recommend that clients coach weekly for the first three months, for the purpose of continuity and reinforcement of your new learning.  Read on to learn about the first four foundational sessions, in which we clarify your destination and chart a path to get there!

 

 

Session 2: Defining Your Big Goal

We do goal work much differently than other coaches. Instead of focusing exclusively on what you want to do, we explore how you want to feel - in your life, your career, your relationship, and about yourself. After all - don't we all make decisions (what job to take, what person to date, etc) based on how we think it will make us feel? We get right to the heart of the matter by developing your big vision and exploring what might possible  in that space. By the end of the session, you'll be ready to write your goal statement! 

Session 1: You Do (Unicorn)

2-Hour Personal Brand Values Workshop

We start by developing awareness, as we identify your top 10 values. Then we shift that awareness to insight by assessing how much your core values are showing up across the 5 key areas of your life: work, home/personal environment, intimate relationship, family and friends/social life. Finally, we take that insight and turn it into action by brainstorming a Jumpstart Plan that you can accomplish over the next 3-4 weeks!  

Session 3: Developing Powerful Strategies

We'll start by reviewing your inspiring new goal statement. Then we'll dig into some meaty strategy work, focusing on two key approaches: first, what are the tactical, logistical steps you'll need to take to reach your goal?  Second, who do you need to be in order to accomplish those tasks?The second part – which includes taking steps to shift how you think and feel – is both the reason most people struggle in achieving their goals, and where coaching makes a huge difference. By the end of this session, you will have a seriously powerful list of effective strategies!
 

Session 4: Insight to Action

This is where the fun really begins, in Colleen's opinion, because it's where you learn how to put your slick new strategies into play! We'll teach you a weekly reflection tool that will allow you to make thoughtful progress and stay accountable to your big vision week over week. This tool comes with a helpful worksheet, so that you can continue the activity on your own as we proceed, allowing us to use our ongoing coaching sessions to deal with the specific agenda items you bring to the work.

Ongoing Coaching: Weekly/Bi-Weekly

Once we've completed the four foundational sessions, we move into the ongoing work of coaching. This is such a fun space to be, because it's where you discover what it truly means to have a partner in progress! Each week, your coach will ask you what you want to work on that day. Then she'll design the session according to the needs and agenda you bring to the table.  

For example, you might say something like, "Today, I want to work on two things: (1) My company wants me to pitch our product to a new client, and I'm not sure where to start, and (2) I want help building my confidence in presenting. Can you help with that?" The answer will either be, "Definitely, and here's how!" or "That's not my particular speciality, but I can connect you to the right person!" The ongoing coaching work also has space for consulting, if - for example -  you're starting a new business and need advice or support in that endeavor beyond coaching.

Ongoing coaching lasts as long as you want it to! Many of our clients reach their goals in 3-6 months, and some take longer. It depends on what you're working on, how much control you have over it, and how much you put into it! At least 70% of our clients choose to continue coaching with us even after they've reached their initial goals; they are used to being super productive and proud of themselves, and treasure the opportunity to have a safe space once a week to continue growing into their best selves. We won't pressure you either way. As with most of our business - we're flexible!
