Welcome to Episode 14 of Rules Aren't Real, where we're joined by very special guest Marcy Richardson to debunk the rule, "Real Artists Don't Get Naked." Anyone who has ever been brave enough to put their art into the world has faced criticism of one form or another, and yet who can say what is "correct"? No one! That's the very nature of art - it is an exploration of beauty and meaning, performed or expressed in a brand new way. And if you want to perform naked - YOU DO YOU!! If you are doing your authentic thing, nothing will get in your way. Marcy is a fantastic example of someone who has thrown the rule book of "what opera singers are allowed to do" out to GD window. And good riddance, we say!
The new podcast that I'm co-hosting with Lydia Billings, another fabulous coach for creatives (and a creative herself - she's an incredible photographer!), launches NEXT WEEK on JUNE 21st! I'm SO excited to share this podcast with you. We have so many rules we want to explore and debunk. So please listen in June 21st, and tell us what you think in the comments or on Instagram!
Instead of asking you to overhaul your whole life on the fly, we have a different approach. We start by helping you change your perspective through simple activities designed to challenge your thinking and disrupt your routine in a small, daily way.
The idea is that if you do just one of these fun, easy-to-accomplish activities per day, you will discover new ways to get creative, inspired, focused, and better without conflicting with your current work environment. Unless, of course, that’s just the kick in the pants you need to get out of a constrictive, joyless, or uninspiring job.
